Top 10 Wackiest Guinness Book World Records

We have all heard about the Guinness world book of records and apart from the standard records such as the world tallest, the worlds shortest person there are categories for dedication, speed, size and of course extraordinary. But one category they should create is weird and wacky! With so many records being created and broken there are some records which are downright ridiculous and makes you wonder who came up with such an unusual activity. Here is a look at the top ten weirdest Guinness records of the world.
10. Bubble home

Bubble home
Do you remember staring wide eyed at the beautiful bubbles during your childhood as the shopkeeper blew them during fairs and near the signals? And trying to recreate those bubbles using shampoo and soaps at home? Fan yang, who became enchanted with bubbles at the age of 6 went a step ahead and turned bubbles into his profession by becoming a bubble artist! Experimenting with various solutions and mixtures he has managed to create different bubble sizes and make art out of them, and now holds bubble shows around the world. His first Guinness record was the largest bubble which he created was in 1992, and since then he has created several world records all themed around bubbles. The most recent and queer record was that he encapsulated a record 181 people inside a single bubble which he achieved in 2012 at Vancouver’s Science World for which he had to prepare for a whole six months!....

9. Art of Popping balloons

The art of popping balloons
Are you one of those people who love to burst balloons at birthday parties? What do you use? A sharp pointed object like a pin or a pencil or just your hands? Meet Julia Gunthel, an avid balloon popper! And guess what, she bursts them using her back! Not an easy thing to do, She set the world record on 23rd November on the set of the Guinness World Records in Die Grossten Weltrekorde, Germany by bursting 3 balloons in just 12 seconds using her back. A contortionist by profession, this German national is known by her stage name ‘Zlata’. Putting her extreme flexibility to good use, she figured out a new, albeit weird way to burst balloons getting a Guinness record as well as getting a place for her on this list.
8. A day at the salon

What if you could get a beauty treatment and set a world record at the same time? You could have probably done it had you been in Taipei this July. A total of 1213 people in Taipei set the world record for the most number of people simultaneously applying face masks at once. This event held in July 2013 was a successor the previous record of 974 which was achieved by SEACRET in Huntington beach California, USA on 26th October 2012. Kudos to whoever thought of this idea and double kudos to Guinness that it actually got accepted as a record! A similarly weird attempt was recognized by Guinness for the most people applying sunscreen which is 1143 and was achieved on the 22nd of June 2012 by Corinda state high school in Brisbane, Australia.
7. Cowboys vs. cans

Perhaps the  world’s most uniquely talented cowboy Adam Winrich of USA created the record for cracking the most number of cans with a whip on the 11th of April on the set of Lo Show Dei record, in Milan on 11th April 2009, by cracking 23 cans in a time of 3 minutes! By profession a whip cracker who does shows featuring stunts involving his whip cracking abilities, this talented cowboy holds a total of 9 Guinness records, naturally all related to whip cracking, some of which include the longest whip ever cracked, most bullwhip cracks in one minute and so on. An unusual activity to do with a whip, I wonder how many activities he must have attempted to do using his bullwhip until he finally realized cracking cans would fit the bill!
6. Magneto

An unusual record Etiber Elchiyev also called magnet man, a resident of the Georgia he broke the Guinness world record for the most number of spoons on a human body, with 50 metal spoons magnetized to his body in Tbilisi on December 14, 2011. A 39 year old kick-boxing trainer, he appeared to randomly keep 50 spoons hanging off his chest and shoulders. With this weird record he managed to demonstrate his baffling magnetic prowess, though scientists claim he does not have magnetic powers but offers an ideal surface area and hairless chest for the spoons to stick to. In a similar attempt Dalibor Jablanovic balanced 28 spoons on his face in 2013 breaking the previous records of 16 spoons by 9 year old Joe Allison.
5. Tape record

One of the quirkiest records so far the fastest time to duct tape a person to the wall is 32.85 seconds. Attempted in new York USA in October 2012, Alec Wilkinson was duct taped by Ashrita Furman, reputed to be the largest Guinness record holder ; and according to the guidelines he had to remain duct taped to the wall for a minute breaking the earlier record of 41.66 seconds which was set by the same pair the previous year. A Similar related bizarre record is held again by Ashrita Furman for the fastest time taken to duct tape oneself to the wall in 2 minutes 12.63 seconds. With duct taping events having guidelines the record couldn’t get any weirder.
4.Hit and run

Hit and run
It is believed that Cats have nine lives and Dietmar from Germany has proved that he might be the first human this unique ‘power’. In the record is held by Dietmar Loeffler of German origin he got hit by a car 8 times in 2 minutes, in Die Grossten Weltrekorde, Cologne, Germany on 23 November 2007! It is difficult to imagine what would consume a person to pursue such a ridiculous guineas record, or even the fact that getting hit by a car passes for a category of a record. Dietmar after the stunt said that he had managed to perfect the jump and roll technique i.e. he had actually practiced a procedure to survive being hit by a car! I assume his record is safe as there is a very small chance of anyone else attempting to break such an unusual record. An unreasonable and ridiculous record, it goes without saying that it earns its place on the top ten wacky Guinness records.
4. New milk delivery system

It is true that we can train our body to do anything with practice and dedication but who knew someone could do this!  Iilker Yilmaz of Istanbul in turkey created a world record on September 1, 2004 for the maximum distance up to which milk is squirted from the eye. His process includes initially snorting the milk up his nose and then squirting the milk out of his eyes which reached a considerable distance of 9 feet and 2 inches! Got to give it to his eye muscles, a strange muscle to give a work out to though. This was not the first time though that this weird feat was attempted; Iiker broke the previous record set by Mike Morall who covered the distance of 8 feet 7 inches. Squirting milk with your eyes certainly stands proud in the list of top ten wacky Guinness records.
2. Piercing art

A huge fan of the punk/rock genre, I have often wanted to get 2 extra sets of ear piercings and an eyebrow piercing and for all of you who have been similarly influenced by the music and the ensemble that is associated with it, particularly the tattoos and the piercings, how far would you go to express yourselves? Elaine Davidson, a nurse from Brazil when examined in March 2000 had 462 piercings all over her body and as of march 2012 she now has over 9000 piercings easily earning the Guinness record for the most pierced person on the planet! Most of her piercings are in her genital region, which are both internal as well as external. Her internal piercings are estimated to weigh an astounding 3 kilograms! After her comes Rolf Bucholz of Germany who set a world record for being the most pierced man on the planet with 453 piercings! He gained this title in Dortmund, Germany on October 24, 2011. Passion is inexplicable after all!
1. The bee mantle

Call it daring or foolhardy; the things people do for a record! Taking his love of bees to a whole new level, Vipin Seth, an Indian national from New Delhi covered himself from head to toe with an astounding 613500 bees weighing 61.4 kg or 136 pounds for about two and a half hours, to break the previous record of 26.9 kgs or 59 pounds held by Ruan Lianming in 2008. This record was set on March 9 2009 at the Indian agriculture research institute at New Delhi, India. Recently an attempt by a Chinese farmer She Ping to earn the same title was proved futile, as he managed to don a mantle of just 331000 bees which weighed 33 kgs, but became the record holder in China.
