Top 10 Harry Potter Characters who Died

This article only includes characters who were alive at some point in the text, first book upwards. I have not taken into account characters like James and Lily Potter who were given to us only in flashbacks, and ghosts like Nearly Headless Nick who dies long before the novels begin. I will talk of characters with whom we formed an emotional bond in the course of our reading and whose death left us devastated and shook our faith in humanity. Oh, and also some deaths at which we rejoiced, Death Eaters of course. Okay. That’s just about it. Here’s to reliving some painful Harry Potter memories-
10- Bellatrix Lestrange
bellaAs far as Death Eaters go, Lestrange was my favorite. Her loyalty to her master- Voldemort- was admirable if reprehensible. Being a product of a long line of pure blood supporting, Voldemort admirers, it is no surprise that Bellatrix is a Death Eater. That being said, her death at the hands of Molly Weasely was perhaps the most satisfying of deaths I’ve read about. It came immediately after she taunts Molly about the death of Fred (who is incidentally my favorite-est character in the book) and at a time when we were all totally rooting for Molly to kill her off. If you need more reasons to hate Bellatrix, besides the fact that she taunts a mother about the death of her son, try to remember the fact that she was instrumental in the torture of Frank and Alice Longbottom to the point of insanity and that she killed Dobby....

Tigers are voted as the most favorite animal by 50,000 people from over 73 countries during a poll conducted by the animal planet! Being the most admired and adored animal, their numbers keep going down drastically. Most people are not aware of many of the interesting facts about them.
The word “Tiger” is said derived from the Greek term, “Tigris” of Persian origin meaning ‘Arrows’. This refers to the speed of the animals as they are as swift and fast as an arrow in the wild. They can sprint at a speed of 60 km/hr over short distances.
Tigers are famous for their fierce and gigantic personality. Most of us have heard about them being poached incessantly, and most of the species are becoming extinct due to lack of sufficient prey and loss of habitat. There is widely spread misconception that these tigers are being killed for medicinal purposes, but actually most of the medicines made are available from many other sources than from the tiger’s parts. They are indeed used for exotic purposes more, than for their traditional medicinal properties. They lose their habitat because of deforestation and human occupation in their territories. Most of the tigers starve to death due to lack of prey as most of the other animals too are becoming extinct because of man’s selfish and cruel activities and other natural causes. All these lead to the extinction of this rare and amazing animal of the wild.
There are many misconceptions and myths regarding tigers which we believe to be true and real! You may wonder what makes the tigers so special among all the animals of the wild. They are special because they have many distinct features and characteristics which are unique only to them when compared to all the other animals. These animals need human’s protection from fellow men’s inhuman activities. Here are some of the most interesting facts about tigers which will make you admire them even more than you usually do and inspire you to protect them even more!

10. The Grand Camouflage

10. The Grand Camouflage
Tigers are differentiated from other cat species only by their distinct mark – The Stripes! The pattern of the stripes on the body of every tiger is unique like the human finger prints. No two tigers have the same pattern of stripes on their body. In fact their stripes are not just on their fur but are also imprinted on their skin. Even when all their fur is shaved, you can see their stripes on their body over their skin. The stripes on their body act as a camouflage to help them conceal themselves among the thick grasses and bushes in their habitat when they are about to attack their prey. Tigers come in different colors like white tiger, golden tiger, blue or slate colored tiger and the black tiger which is thought to be unreal and if existed, it could only be a species of intermittent mutations than being distinct species...

Top 10 Drinking Games

Adding the fun to a regular session of drinking alcohol, these drinking games are not just mere games but some of them are actually a test for your endurance, speed, skill, and thinking abilities under its influence. However it is advised to be responsible and “Thou shalt Drink and Derive but never Drink and Drive”
10) The Drink Chess/ Beer chess
2754788716_3be072b99c
May sound rather dreary for it involves the chess. Buy this one is very good and one of my personal favorites. It can easily be played with your drinking partner and the only game with minimum and maximums two players.
All you need is a big chess board and make your pieces with beer or your drinks. On the white side a few lighter shades Bud, Miller, Bush, Coors and Michelob and on the black side the original draft. The pawn starts with 250 ml, the rooks, knights and bishops are 350ml and king and queens are 500 ml each. To ease it out you can use different size glasses, because the better you get drunk the worst it gets to identify the pieces. Standard rules are; a sip to move a piece (* the horses prove difficult with 2 and a half while rooks are easy), finish the drink on being captured and on checkmate you drink the remainder of the opponent’s king. Though all the games pretty much end in resignation or passing out....

Top 10 Effects of Global Warming

Global warming is a phenomenon wherein there occurs a rise in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and water bodies since the late 19th century and is still an on-going process. Since the early 1900’s, Earth’s average surface temperature has rose by about 0.8 °C(1.4 °F), with almost two-thirds of this hike occurring since 1980. Proposed policy responses to this crisis include mitigation through emissions reduction, adaptation to its effects etc. Most of the countries in the world  are members of the  United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC)  whose sole objective is to prevent dangerous anthropocentric i.e., human-induced climate change. All of the party members have taken an oath to adopt a range of policies that work around reducing greenhouse gas emissions that are the sole reason for an increase in global. Currently efforts as of the early 21st century that  are mainly directed towards  reducing emissions seem to  be quite  inadequate to cope up with  the UNFCCC’s 2 °C target. Here are the top 10 causes for Global Warming.
10) War
war
Hostilities and conflicts amongst countries are constantly on the rise as nations are competent and ruthless when it comes to acquiring resources. An important example of this is the genocide in the Darfur region situated in Sudan or the Somalian war with roots in the reduction of its natural resources due to the sole reasons of climate change. It is clearly evident that the increasing number of wars that commence on the foundation of food and water scarcities may lead to uncontrollable levels of aggression, security trouble, regional instability, panic etc. We should realize that there is a direct relationship between a geological condition such as global warming and civil unrest. Production of weapons, the oil industry etc.  is often considered to be the most common reasons for global politics....

Top 10 Extinct Birds List

The term extinction is no more just a myth; it is a reality for those very many species that have faced this awful event. These are the creatures that would never walk the earth and will no longer be seen flying or roaming about in its natural habitat. The species, which have become extinct, will always be remembered through the pictures taken or the sketches shown by the people who are interested in working on their lives. Human race has been the reason for the extinction of many such species. Their irrational behavior, their over-use of appliances and many more such careless attitude towards the nature have taken a violent turn. But one cannot put the blame on the human race completely, because there were natural elements as well, that have been the reason for demolishing the lives of such extinct species. Here are the lists of 10 such species of birds that have become extinct through time, for various reasons:
10. LAUGHING OWL
 LAUGHING OWL
A 36cms long species, weighing for about 600 grams, belonging to the genus of Sceloglaux, the laughing owl was named so because of its wicked form of hooting. It had originated in New Zealand. The laughing owl’s existence was greatly recorded by the European settlers, who had landed on this island in the 1840s. The males were of smaller size when compared to that of the females. The records claims, that these owls had, a reddish brown plumage, a white face and orange eyes, that added to the eerie sense of this species of owls, with its malicious way of hooting. The cause of extinction is not certain though, but probably, it can be estimated that the last specie of these laughing owls were found in 1914 in Canterbury. But then again later on, people had quoted to say that they were shaken up to their very core, when they woke up in the middle of the night hearing the laughter of a mad man, while they were camping deep inside the forests, which were considered to be coming from the laughing owls.....

10 Animals that became Extinct in 20th Century

We all remember the story of the dodo well, the fearless, flightless bird native to Mauritius which was driven to extinction by hunters, because it was such an easy prey. Rampant hunting and deforestation caused this highly populated bird to become extinct in less than a century, which was barely noticed initially but brought to light the danger of human intervention in extinction of an entire species! But it is not the only species in the world to have gotten extinct in recent times. Evolution does naturally cause certain species to become extinct through natural selection, but this slow process has been picking up great pace due to human involvement and activities. Deforestation, hunting, poaching, global warming have all contributed to this; and the twentieth century saw several species of animals driven to extinction, ten of which are:
10. Cascade Mountain wolf
Cascade Mountain wolf
Cascade Mountain wolf
Also known as the brown wolf, it was of medium size and had a grayish brown coat. Found in abundance in southwestern Canada and in Northern California, North American Pacific Coast Mountains, very little is known about these wolves. Their numbers began to subside due to the rampant hunting of these wolves during the twentieth century on account of the danger possessed to livestock and sheep of the settlers, by these wolves.  With government announcing bounties this species was gradually driven to extinction by 1941....

10 Reasons why Hindi Is Increasingly Gaining Popularity in United States Of America

Language cuts across geographical boundaries and transcends across human emotions. Language has the ability to restrain as well as liberate. Language is the most important tool of communication, mobilization and congregation. The French Revolution and The Indian Struggle for Independence bear testimony to the fact that holding on to its language enables a community to possess the key to its own liberation; its own prison. However, in the modern context language has acquired a new dimension. It serves a greater purpose. It not only binds communities of one state or nation together but also connects people from across the trails of the globe. India’s official language ‘Hindi’ is progressing boundlessly and is rapidly spreading overseas with over 6.5 lac speakers of Hindi in the U.S. alone. The widespread appeal of Hindi among the masses has led to its soaring demand. Hindi also boasts of being one of the most ancient languages of human civilization. Without any doubt, this easy, attractive and alluring language is carving a niche for itself in the American land slowly, but steadily. I present to you the
10 reasons why Hindi is increasingly gaining popularity in the United States of America.
10. Tracing the Roots
tracing the roots
Often, Indians who live away from the country are more ‘Indian’ than those at home. Somewhere deep inside the core of their hearts, they long to be attached to their Indian roots. This craving makes them nurture the Indian culture despite being in a faraway land. Food preferences, family ties, festivities, lifestyle and their way of thinking, all unknowingly reflect their Indian origin. The need to belong to their homeland also cultivates in them a desire to speak and learn Hindi and other regional Indian languages. Indian American parents often hire tutors who can teach Hindi to their American born children and engage them in Indian culture and traditions. They do not want their progeny to forget about their home land completely. Nearly 6.5 lac people in the U.S. speak Hindi, while over 8 lac people speak various regional Indian languages....

Top 10 Worst Sports Tragedies

On April 15, 2013, when two pressure cookers exploded during the Boston marathon, killing 3 people and injuring about 264 others, it shook the whole world to its core. Certain moments make us scream at our televisions, the anxiety that grips us while watching a nail biting match, we mourn the loss of a game, we cheer our favorite sporting heroes but when the Boston bombings made the news, it reminded us that sporting history has been marred by a number of tragedies that the world will never forget. Here is a list of a few sports tragedies that still disturb us.

The team which was popularly known as II Grande Torino was returning home from a friendly match in Lisbon, Portugal when the pilot deceived by terrible conditions crashed the plane into a wall at the rear of a basilica that adorned the Superga hill. All the 31 passengers on-board were killed which included 18 players, club officials, journalists and the team crew. Most of the dead bodies were damaged so badly by the crash that they could only be identified by the jewelry and photos found on them. This tragedy had a huge impact on Italian football, with over half a million Italians lining up the streets to watch the funeral procession, and about 30,000 people going to Superga to pay their respects to the beloved players. Vittorio Pozzo, who led the Italian team to victory in two successive world cups, was the team manager at the time was devastated uttering these words, “The Torino team is no more…it has disappeared…it is burnt…it has exploded.”....
