As soon as we enter into the world, the first few individuals who wait for us are our family. The first person to see and smile us is our mother who brings us into this world. Christmas Vacation is a 1989 American film directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik. It stars Chevy Chase, Juliette Lewis and Randy Quaid. The movie features an attempt by Clark Griswold of having a special family Christmas and to bring his whole family together. But things never go in the right direction for Griswold’s. Clark’s frequent bad luck get worse by his hateful family guests and a sequence of bad events begin to unravel for him. However, Clark doesn’t let these things affect the spirit of Christmas and he manages to go on thinking his Christmas bonus is yet to be received soon.

Hannah and Her Sisters is a 1986 American movie directed by Woody Allen starring Mia Farrow, Michael Caine and Barbara Herhsey. The film is about an extended family over two years which starts and ends with a Thanksgiving party. The story revolves around the three sisters Lee, a painter and woman of Frederick; Holly, who dreams of becoming an actor or writer and Hannah, heart of the family. The balance begins to crack up when Hannah’s husband falls in love with her sister, Lee, who leaves Frederick. Holly after a deep crisis in her life meets Mickey, the former husband of Hannah. The affairs grow and at the last Thanksgiving.

The story is about George Bailey who grew up in Bedford Falls, and has always dreamt of leaving his town and doing something big in life. The story is about a father who is dying of cancer and his son, who hasn’t spoken to him for years and tries to gather stories of his dad over the years. The father-son relationship is beautifully portrayed where the son recreates his father’s life inspired by the facts he knows. He tries to figure out the truth about who his dad actually was.

Meet the Parents is a 2000 American film directed by Jay Roach. The film stars Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller and revolves around Greg, a male nurse and his girlfriend. He with a plan to marry his girlfriend visits her parent’s house to ask for her hand. The drama begins when he get to meet her dad, an ex-CIA who has a lie detector with him. Unexpectedly, her sister also declares her wedding with a young doctor at the same time. Things start going wrong and Greg end up embarrassing him every time in his attempt to impress his girlfriend and her family.

Away We Go is a 2009 comedy drama film directed by Sam Mendes. The movie stars John Krasinski, Josh Hamilton and Maya Rudolph. The movie revolves around Burt Farlander and Verona Tessant, a couple who are deeply into love. And when they find out that they are become parents, they seem to be enjoying that phase. Burt has great plans of possessing skills like his father and become a good father. But all his plans go down the drain when he learns that the prospective babies grandparents are moving to some other country. Verona finds it hard to accept this news but the couple tries to turn this in a positive way. They start looking for a perfect place to raise their child and in the way meet various family members and friends turning out to be an unforgettable road trip.

The Kids Are All Right is a 2010 comedy drama American film directed by Lisa Cholodenko. The story is about two people, Nic and Jules, who are in a very committed but not so perfect relationship. They have two children, Joni and Laser who are half siblings having an unknown biological father who is a sperm donor. The kids start searching for their father, Paul, without telling their mom and meet him. Paul is a guy in his late thirties with a garden, a restaurant and a bike. When Nic and Jules come to know what their children are doing, although they didn’t like the idea but start spending time with Paul. As the relationship grows, Paul hires Jules to take care of his backyard leading to a new addition in the family of Nic and Jules.

The comedy-drama movie is about who experience great success at young their age but things turn upside down when their father leaves during their adolescence. The three kids, all with genius minds, move to their childhood home with their mother accepting the hard times However, their father comes back and things get back to normal in the family. Even with all the emotional drama, the movie manages to infuse a sense of humor throughout.

Ordinary People is an American film directed by Robert Redford. The movie stars Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore and Judd Hirsch. The story is about two teenage brothers cum best friends, Buck Jarett and Conrad Jarrett who meet a boating accident which takes away Buck’s life. Not able to handle the death of his brother, Conrad tries to commit suicide. After being in hospital for four months, Conrad moves to Chicago to his parents, Beth and Calvin. The family tries to overcome the grief and move on but things in the Jarrett family are not all right. Beth had always preferred Buck and thus finds it difficult to support Conrad. Calvin, on the other hand tries to reunite the family and hold everyone together.
